Tight at the top of the leaderboard

THE final day of the Rosscot 72-hole Strokeplay Championship promises to be most exciting with the top three places being filled by La Moye GC member and reigning champion Richard Ramskill, Paul Le Chevalier and current Jersey champion Matthew Parkman all on one-over-par 141.

Then follows two juniors, Seb Brown, who was the first round leader, and Gyles Robinon on 142 and 143, respectively.

Day two of the championship at Royal Jersey yesterday proved to be successful for the host club who claimed all three of the trophies awarded so far.

Andrew Rafferty who celebrated his 16th birthday by winning the 36-hole handicap prize with a net score of 136 over the two rounds, which just beat his father Les Ormes Member Steven into second place by one shot.

He, in turn, held off Gyles Robin on the countback by virtue of having the better second round.

The Scratch Team Trophy was won by Paul Le Chevalier, Matthew Parkman and Christy Mc Laughlin with a combined total of a seven-over-par 427 - easily the best score of the teams entered.

The Handicap prize went to the trio of Robbie Messervy, Gary Denton and Alex Guelpa with a net score of 424, two better than runners up Matthew Vincent, Gyles Robin and Colin Attwood.
