A CONSULTANT who was a key architect of the proposed new goods and services tax is to become a full-time States employee responsible for implementing the tax.
Steve Lowthorpe, a tax reform specialist, has been recruited from consultants Crown Agents to a new post of goods and services tax director in the Income Tax department.
Crown Agents was the business that helped devise the Island’s future tax strategy, and Mr Lowthorpe, who starts work at the end of this month, is one of its most senior advisers on indirect taxation.
