BOXING - Two out of three ain’t bad: Jersey Leonis ABC have two Western Counties Novice boxing champions following the championships at Bournemouth on Saturday.
Boyd Munroe and Ryan Powell both won through to the quarter-finals of the national event to be held in Yorkshire next month.
They beat Richard Jackson and Mark Waldren respectively.
Tommy Noel, celebrating his 18th birthday, was narrowly beaten by the excellent Sol Ali.
All the bouts were points decisions.

GOLF - Cuttiford on countback: Nick Cuttiford won the Melville Walker and Robinson Trophy on a countback at La Moye GC on Saturday, the 13 handicapper carding 40 points, as did Chris Young, a three-handicapper.
Cuttiford was also the Division II winner, with Kevin O’Toole being the Division I winner, with 37 points.
BADMINTON - Cann reaches semi-finals: Elizabeth Cann was knocked out of the Polish Open in the semi-finals at the weekend but feels this was her best tournament of the season as she played consistently well.
Cann, who was seeded third for the event, won her first match against Finland’s Maria Vaisanen 13-21, 21-16, 21-19.
In her second match, Cann beat Nguyen Nhung Le Ngoc from Vietnam 21-16, 21-16.
Facing the top seed in the semi finals, Cann took the game to three sets but lost out to Japan’s Chie Umezu 21-15, 21-23, 15-21.
SNOOKER - Jersey snooker Guernsey: For the first time in six years Jersey beat Guernsey 7-3 to win the 2007 Channel Island Team Snooker Championship.
Gary Britton beat Guernsey’s Adrian Holley 74-26 and made breaks of 35 and 5 to win the second 78-5.
Chris Alexander then beat Adam Shorto (Gsy) 83-48 but lost the second 82-7.
Aaron Canavan gave Jersey a 5-1 lead after beating Adrian Lihou 89-23 and 62-9.
Ray Kilmartin then secured the title for Jersey with a 69-15 win over Guernsey’s captain Ian Platt.
He lost the second 65-46 while Karl Le Fevre beat Martyn Desperques 78-29 but lost a close second match to leave the overall result 7-3 to Jersey.
SURFING - Boletta Bags Jersey Open: Christian Boletta took the Jersey Open title away from last year’s winner Renny Gould at the weekend.
Organised by the Jersey Surfboard Club and held at St Ouen’s Bay, Boletta produced the winning ride late on to finish ahead of the consistent Gould.
CI Champion Jonny Wallbridge, from Guernsey, was third while Jersey’s Sam George was fourth.
In the Ladies Open, Shelly McFarlane took the win from former CI champion Arlene Maltman - Grace Davies was third with Delia Baker fourth and Charlotte Bayliss fifth.
BILLIARDS - Desperques double: Guernsey’s Martyn Desperques lifted his second CI title of the year after beating Jersey’s Chris Alexander 500-260 to retain the CI Billiards trophy.
CYCLING - Spence races to win: CCC’s Chris Spence won Velo Sport Jersey’s road race yesterday.
Held at the Bal Tab circuit, Spence battled it out with Island Games team-mate Dave Jardine, VSJ, for the chequered flag in the final straight of their ten lap division I race.
MOTORSPORT - Sorel Point Moto-X: The M&P trophy of the day was awarded to the big wheel class as Guernsey’s Brett Pearce was first.
Jersey’s Ben Le Cornu was second while Luke Lesbirel (Gsy) was third.
FOOTBALL - Home win in U14 friendly: First Tower beat Guernsey Northeners 7-5 in an under-14 football friendly played at La Hague Manor yesterday.
Marco Zocchi netted four while Calvin Weir, Charlie Petulla and Nick Carpenter also scored.
GOLF - Ray’s monthly medal: St Clement Golf Club’s April Monthly medal was won by Ray Cairney, 13 handicap, who finished on a nett 55.
Tony Cleaworth was second with a nett 57 and George Reid third with a nett 59.
SHOOTING - Le Brun on high: Ernie Le Brun was Class A winner and High Gun in Lecq Clay Target Club’s 75 Bird Sporting yesterday with a score of 69 ex 75.
Ashley Le Sech and Richard Le Brun shared second place in Class A with 68.

BOWLS - Trinity results: In the final of the target competition, the team of Betty Dorey, Ivy Hotton and Norman Cabot beat the team of Kathleen Pallot, Lawrence Rimeur and Bernard Vautier 115-106 for the Betty and Frank Thomas Trophy at the Trinity Bowls Club on Saturday.
GOLF - RJGC’s Spring Meeting: David Oliver, 10 handicap, won the Royal Jersey Golf Club’s Spring Club Cup Stableford on Saturday with a nett 64 finishing ahead of Anton Skinner, 16 handicap, on 65 and Tim Sharkey, 20 handicap, on 66.
On Sunday, Mick Byrne and Sam Crenan won the Osbourne-Smith Salver Medal Foursomes on 70.
Trevor Gray and George Le Vesconte were second and Mike Street and Ben Smart third.
BOWLS - O’Callaghan’s team win: St Brelade Bowls Club’s opening day competition for the Mike Newman Trophy was won by Con O’Callaghan’s team with Doreen Moon and Eddie Cauvain.
The runners up were skip David Le Boutillier and Tom Keir-Hardy and Jo Le Quesne.
GOLF - Royal performance!: ROYAL Jersey Golf Club reached the Jersey final of the Hampshire 7-a-side tournament yesterday following a thrilling 4-3 victory over La Moye GC.
A see-saw match was finally decided on the second extra-hole by James Birch, who came from three holes down with three to play, to defeat Simon Allchin.
CRICKET - College beat new boys: Victoria College 1st XI defeated new club Rowlands Wanderers by 76 runs at the College Field on Saturday.
Victoria scored 236 for 6 with Matt Brookland scoring 32, Lee Meloy 31, Nick Baxter 34 not out and Nishant Sharma 36 not out.
Roy Slater hit 28 as Wanderers were all out for 140.
College captain Meloy took four wickets for 25 runs with Baxter assisting with three for 26.
