CAPTAIN Dave Brodie is one of a trio of Jersey players nursing injuries ahead of the Cimandis Muratti Vase final in Guernsey on Sunday.
Influential midfielder Brodie aggravated a recovering hamstring injury in Jersey Scottish’s Upton Park Trophy victory against Guernsey Northerners at Springfield two weeks ago - having missed the previous six weeks with the same injury.
Also nursing knocks are utility player John Beatson and winger Ali Santos, the latter who became a father for the second time this week.
Jersey manager Dave Kennedy said: ‘Dave is our biggest concern, he is having constant treatment and hopefully he will make the game on Sunday.
‘John hurt a leg muscle playing in a training game with us at the weekend while Ali has a sore ankle.
‘I know Guernsey have injuries but I’m not worried about them.
‘My lads have been working hard at training and they played really well in a game at the weekend.
It was a hot day, they played some great football and their attitude and commitment was first class.
‘They are a great group of players and they all gave 100 per cent.
We tried a few things out and it all went well.
The players know they are all playing for places and the way they are playing they’re giving me a headache for my starting eleven.’ Meanwhile two Guernsey players forced out of Sunday’s Muratti are facing knee operation in the near future.
Striker Simon Tostevin, who will be out until Christmas at the earliest, is to undergo a knee operation to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate right-knee ligament he damaged during the Jeremie Cup final against Jersey’s Trinity F&SC.
Central defender Michael Wilson, formerly a Portsmouth junior player, has been told he could have ruptured his cruciate.
The 25-year-old fireman will know definitely after travelling to Jersey for an MRI scan in the near future.
