JFA delay fee scheme

THE Jersey Football Association’s planned membership scheme will not be introduced for the start of the 2007-2008 season.

Following informal feedback from some clubs regarding time scales and the JFA’s own concerns regarding implementation, the JFA’s working party and Executive have recommended that a decision should be taken before the end of 2007 on whether to introduce a scheme for 2008-2009.

The working party recognises that more consultation is required with clubs and this will take place at a future meeting for that purpose and on an individual basis if required.

Clubs are encouraged to openly put forward their views, both for and against a membership scheme, so that these points may be considered during the consultation period.

The working party’s draft report is being finalised and they support the principle of user pays, ie the players, and support the introduction of a membership scheme as the fairest method of gaining contributions from those who benefit most from football, the players.

It is recommended that £90 for seniors and £45 for players be charged with £60 and £30, respectively, being paid directly back to players’ clubs.

The working party firmly believes that a membership scheme is the way forward and such a scheme will have significant benefits for clubs with less administration work, additional income and financial security.

Fees will also reduce drastically the JFA’s current £25,000 annual shortfall.
