JERSEY will be in the record books again if ‘rocket man’ Terry McDonald pulls off the biggest stunt of his life.
The Island’s best-known fireworks expert is not just planning to regain his world record for a simultaneous rocket launch - he plans to blow it to pieces. And Terry has chosen the finale of the Battle of Flowers in August to stage his ambitious attempt in the hope that the inevitable worldwide publicity will be a boost for the Island’s premier tourist and community event. Terry’s record was taken from him last August when Dr Roy Lowry of Plymouth University fired 56,645 rockets over a 30-second period above Plymouth Sound. That beat the previous record by 17,000.
