THE new Income Support benefit package has been delayed until January.
Ministers have agreed to put back the £56m scheme, which encompasses rent subsidies, welfare and disability allowances, to allow more time to communicate with recipients, only half of whom have applied to be included. Social Security had planned to start the new benefit system on 27 August, but because GST has been delayed from January to April next year, the department have more time to inform recipients about what will happen.
