THE retiring president of the Chamber of Commerce intends to pursue a project to try to find £20 million in savings in States spending.
Kevin Keen, who steps down this week after two years as president of the Chamber of Commerce, has also announced his departure from his post as managing director of Jersey Dairy at the end of September. He will be replaced by finance director Eamon Fenlon. A constant critic of States spending, Mr Keen has previously offered to give up his own time to help find savings but he says he has been forced to revise the scope of the project after States chief executive Bill Ogley set ‘preconditions’. Although Mr Keen wants to pursue the plan he will now only do it using information in the public domain rather than having access to confidential data.
