JERSEY’S relationship with the UK government will not be affected by the expected arrival of Gordon Brown at No 10 Downing Street, according to the Chief Minister.
Mr Brown is favourite to succeed outgoing Prime Minister Tony Blair at the end of next month, and Senator Frank Walker says there is no reason to think that there will be any changes to Jersey’s relationship with the UK. And Senator Walker said there was also no reason to rethink the recently signed framework agreement between the States and the UK government. ‘I am very confident that he will continue to wish to work to the framework we signed the week before last,’ said the Senator. ‘I can see no reason at all why he would seek to diverge from that.’
