Cricket:Bankers deposit the points in Division III of Evening League

THERE were wins for NatWest, Centurions, HSBC and Jersey United Banks in NatWest Evening Cricket League Division III last night.

NatWest continued their unbeaten start with a hard-fought 16-run victory over Jersey Zoo at the FB Fields.

They struggled against some accurate bowling from Alan Sutton and Buck (3 for 15) to make just 78 for 8, with only Steve Farnden and Andy Morton reaching double figures.

However, keen fielding featured as NatWest restricted Jersey Zoo to 62 for 8, with Simon Varley returning miserly figures of 1 for 7 in three overs and Peter Whitsey picking up three wickets for 17 runs.

Centurions restricted Post Office to 76 for the loss of nine wickets then their opening bats, Raj David and Kris Gorman, put on 69 for the first wicket as they ran out eight-wicket winners in just eight overs.

HSBC also won with overs to spare, restricting Sloggers to 107 for 3 - despite opener S Hopper claiming an unbeaten 50.

Archie Irtizaali took two for 30 and HSBC only needed ten overs to reach the target, with Patrick Kelly top scoring with 31 off 13 balls.

M Elcock bagged four wickets for just ten runs.

Mavericks’ total of 114, with opener A Ricketts retiring on 51, was not enough to stop United Banks winning by eight wickets in ten overs.
