News from the Jersey Evening Post

Don’t knock the banana!

CHIEF Minister Frank Walker made a robust defence in the States today of the new Jersey branding exercise, part of which is the widely criticised ‘flying banana’ logo.

And he argued that the public had only seen a fraction of the work so far done for the £240,000 paid to consultants Corporate Edge. The Chief Minister said that a full presentation of the new brand would be made at the next States sitting on 5 June when all politicians would be able to judge the exercise for themselves. As a result of the work done, Senator Walker said that the Island now had an outline for a new website for all business sectors; a prototype film to be used in marketing the Island; new and much improved tourism advertising campaigns; and a new brochure and marketing guide. All of this would be laid out for States Members, the media and the public. ‘We want people to see what is intended and understand not only the significance of the work, but also see that what they have seen so far is a very insignificant part of the whole,’ said the Chief Minister.
