Backing for new Castle Quay plans

THE president of Save Jersey’s Heritage has backed Dandara’s plans for the waterfront.

Marcus Binney said that Dandara’s plans for Castle Quay were a vast improvement on earlier ideas for three towers and skyscrapers. The proposals for 358 flats and 85,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space for the Castle Quay site were given approval by Environment Minister Freddie Cohen at a public meeting on Friday. Despite objections from the Société Jersiaise and the Chamber of Commerce the decision went ahead. Castle Quay has been surrounded in controversy since Dandara originally planned for 20-, 17- and 14-storey towers on the site in 2006.
