TAXPAYERS will be footing the clear-up bill for a ‘wild’ party at Beauport over the weekend.
Residents were shocked to see the debris that had been left after the bonfire party on Saturday night. Today Transport and Technical Services were clearing up the mess. The remains of a sizeable open fire were left on a very large area above the beach. Surrounding it were beer cans, barbecue trays, food packaging, cigarette packets, toilet rolls and plastic cutlery. St Brelade Deputy Sean Power said that he had been out of the Island but had seen pictures of the debris and would be going to have a look at it today. ‘I am not very happy. It is terrible. I am appalled that a beautiful area like Beauport can be taken for personal use,’ he said.
