DOUBLE killer Roderick Newall is reported to have been freed from prison after serving 13 years inside.
British newspapers have reported his release, although here has been no official confirmation locally and his Jersey lawyer is unavailable for comment. He was sentenced to life in prison by the Royal Court in 1994 after admitting murdering his parents Nicholas and Elizabeth Newall at their Clos de L’Atlantique home in St Brelade in 1987. But the police officer who headed the inital murder investigation has condemned the length of sentence served by Newall. Speaking from Cyprus, former detective inspector Graham Nimmo said: ‘Thirteen years for killing one person would be short but for killing both your parents, it does not seem right.’
