HUNDREDS of passengers were stranded at Gatwick on Thursday after airline Flybe could not find enough pilots to fly its planes.
And some of the travellers were still at the London airport today waiting to get back to the Island for the Bank Holiday weekend. Two flights were cancelled on Thursday because of a shortage of flight crew. The airline has apologised to everyone affected and says that compensation claims should be made to its customer service department. Flybe’s general manager for market development, Ian Taylor, said that the airline had never been as short of available flight crew as it was at the moment as a result of its takeover of rival carrier BA Connect. Not enough hotel beds could be found to accommodate the 200 or so stranded at Gatwick on Thursday and frustrated passengers vented their anger at airline representatives.
