BECKIE Herbert’s Leicester Ladies Hockey Club just missed out on the European Champions crown after a 2-1 defeat to Dutch team HC’s Hertogenbosch in the final of the Eurohockey Club Champions Cup yesterday.
Having beaten Belarus’s Ritm Grodno 2-0 on Saturday, Leicester went on to taste success against favourites Berliner HC, winning 2-0 on Sunday to secure their place in the final after topping their group stage.
Unsurprisingly, the final was a close affair with the game still level at 0-0 at half-time, but Dutch champions Hertogenbosch squeezed out the England side to take a 2-1 victory in Baku, Azerbaijan.
