Probation and Rugby Club on to a winner

OFFENDERS put in more than 700 hours’ community service work at the Jersey Rugby Club last year.

The probation service set up the arrangement with the club in March 2007 and so far offenders have maintained the pitch, marshalled at the Siam Cup and stitched tackle bags among other duties.

Community Service manager Andy Le Marrec said: ‘The obvious benefit is that offenders are performing community service that would otherwise be in prison.
