News from the Jersey Evening Post

Jersey cheese across the board

A WORLD Jersey Cheese Festival is planned as one of the highlights of the 175th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society.

The festival, which it is hoped will attract entrants from Jersey as well as from around the globe, will take place as part of a three-day country fair in May, following the staging of the 18th World Jersey Cattle Bureau conference.

The event — believed to be the first of its kind ever held — should put the Island, its very special cow and its dairy products firmly on the map.

Jersey Tourism have already indicated that they will back it and plans are in hand to cater for around 100 participants from ten countries with a variety of hard and soft cheeses made from Jersey milk.
