THREE Jersey weightlifters won their respective categories at the Southern Regions Masters Olympic Championship recently.
The event was held at Crystal Palace and there were wins for Trisha Forbes, Ti Lewis and her husband, Neil Lewis, who all now go on to the British Masters Championship on 15 March.
Forbes, who was the British champion of unequipped powerlifting in 2006, made the move to Olympic weightlifting because of a lack of competitions, and in this event made a total of 73 kg to win.
Ti, who got into the sport through her husband, scored 63 kg in her first competition to win, and Neil also won his category, having totalled 140.
Trisha and Neil competed for the British team which finished fourth in last year’s Europa Cup.
Following the National Championship at Lilleshall Sports Centre, Forbes will take part in the European Championship in the Czech Republic in May. The athletes are sponsored by Garfield Bennett.
