Quarry plan back for fifth time

A LIVELY debate is expected tonight when Dandara present their revised plans for Westmount quarry to a town assembly.

St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft will ask electors to back the new plan, which includes 176 flats, a 60-bed nursing home, a 60-place day nursery and 24 two-bedroom sheltered homes for the over-50s.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Mr Crowcroft said that the deal would also save parish ratepayers another £3.5 million because Dandara would pay for work to stabilise the cliff face at the site, which would otherwise have to be paid for by the parish.

It will be the fifth time that plans for the quarry, which is the site of the old parish depot and below the luxury flats at Park Heights, have been put before an assembly.
