JERSEY’S husband and wife duo Lindsey and Thomas Greechan scored a straight sets victory over Welsh hopes Ben Thomas and Becky Shore that took them into the last four of the WIBC world indoor mixed pairs championship at Swansea yesterday.
Winning, 8-3, 6-4, they set up a semi final clash with Scotland’s Claire Johnston (who won the title last year with Iain McLean) and Colin Walker, while Johnston is still on course to retain her singles title to boot.
Lindsey and Thomas had a great chance to make progress in the singles, but suffered last round defeats in their groups against Scotland’s Wendy Archer and England’s Graham Shadwell respectively. After losing the first set, Lindsey Greechan looked poised to take Archer into a tiebreak when she led 7-5 in the second, but dropped two fours, as the Scot returned a 10-8, 13-7 scorecard.
Shadwell hit form on a tricky rink to deny Thomas Greechan, sweeping to a 9-1, 12-7 victory, and kept his unbeaten record intact.
