Forget promotion - this is the Siam!

JERSEY Rugby Club head en masse for Guernsey tomorrow determined to put the icing on their promotion glory season by recapturing the Siam Cup.

The heady feeling after last Saturday’s play-off victory over Staines earned a place in English rugby’s fifth tier, London I, will hopefully have subsided in time to meet the determined challenge of their hosts at 3 pm.

In the long and colourful history of the Siam Cup - the second-oldest trophy in world rugby after the Calcutta Cup - Guernsey have only once won it twice in succession. But in front of an expected 3,000-plus crowd at Foote’s Lane tomorrow they have the rare opportunity to do so again.
