Wanderers’ historic bid

JERSEY Wanderers bid for their first Portsmouth Trophy Junior Upton victory in their 113-year history at Springfield tomorrow when they take on Guernsey Sylvans.

Wanderers have lost all three Uptons they have played, their most recent defeat being by North in Guernsey last year.

But buoyed by three trophies already in their possession - the Jersey Telecom Junior League Under-18 Division I title, the JFA’s Tregear Cup and the De Ste Croix Trophy (champions v The Rest) - Wanderers are hoping to complete a clean sweep of the silverware.

Manager Daryn Noble said: ‘Our target at the start of the season was to finish in the top three and qualify for the Portholme competition but we’ve exceeded my expectation and I’ve nothing but praise for the squad for doing so.
