Prince Edward exit race for 2013

THE withdrawal of Prince Edward Island’s bid to host the 2013 NatWest Island Games almost certainly means the event will be held in Bermuda.

Prince Edward state that they have withdrawn because their government would not continue to offer their support and would not provide any financial or any other kind of backing.

It was always going to be the organisation’s first trip across the Atlantic and would have been voted on in Aland, next year’s host island.

The executive committe had already recommended that the islands vote for Bermuda in the two-island contest.

But that is not always the way the members’ delegates vote, so the decison of Prince Edward to back down will come a relief to Bermuda.
