ISLAND businesses need to do more to conserve the water supply and to keep it pollution-free, say Jersey Water.
The company says it has ‘concerns about the unsettled rainfall patterns’ and has commissioned an independent specialist consultant to prepare a 25-year water resource plan.
According to the report and accounts for 2007, profit before tax was up 13% last year, to £3.5 million, on turnover of ฃ13.8 million.
Revenue from water increased by 3.9% overall, reflecting the full effect of over 1,000 new connections in 2006 - mainly new housing developments - and a further 453 connections during 2007.
