FEMALE cricketers in the Channel Islands were put through their paces in an action packed long weekend of training and match practice against a touring MCC women’s team.
The tour kicked off on Friday at Grainville with training for schoolchildren, Guernsey players and Jersey’s two female cricket teams.
This was followed by a 30 overs match between the MCC and the CI, the latter starting strongly thanks to captain El Blazey, who got her side off to a great start, forming a strong partnership with Guernsey’s Sarah Day, and top scoring with 18.
CI were all out for 75 and this failed to cause the MCC side too many problems as they reached their target in nine overs.
