Charities law ‘is still unfair’

CAMPAIGNERS say that a new law on charities will place excessive burdens on small organisations and are demanding more changes.
Although the recently lodged draft Non-Profit Organisations Law has undergone changes sparked by a consultation backlash, the unpopular legislation is still being challenged by a lobby group who will try to make last-minute amendments following a meeting today.
Advocate Christopher Lakeman is the chairman of a focus group who have been battling against the law since it was first proposed in January. He said that although they were satisfied that many changes had been made from the original draft, there was still a need for further amendments.
