Half a ton of medals!

THE Jersey Spartan Athletics Club came away with 55 medals from the Hampshire Athletics Championships at the weekend.

They included a gold for Jamie Stevenson, who broke a 28-year-old meet record in the U20 shot putt.

His personal best throw of 18.55m trounced the former record of 17.26m and stretched his own Scottish U20 record in this discipline.

Two athletes also achieved the qualifying standard for the Youth Commonwealth Games with Zane Duquemin’s gold medal winning throw in the U17s discus of 47.39m and Gemma Dawkins’ 57.84 sec in the U20s 400m hitting the mark.
