Pushman leads the way

00560773_cropped.jpgELAINE PUSHMAN posted top score on the opening day of the Jersey Women’s Golf Association HSBC Championship yesterday.

Playing on her home course of La Moye, Pushman returned a gross 79 in the first round of qualifiers, to finish ahead of current champion, and clubmate, Jenny Deeley by one stroke.

Corinne Ramskill was third and Sheila Smith fourth, both grossing 82, as La Moye dominated play to feature in the top six positions in Division I.

Pushman also topped the handicap results with a net 74 while Royal Jersey’s, Karin Sturdy, 10 hcp, took second on 74 and Virginia Austin Walker, 11 hcp, third with a net 75. Judy Dove continued La Moye’s success as she took the Division II honours.
