New lease of life for L’Auberge du Nord

0560794_cropped.jpgA NEW Island-owned pub group has bought the lease of L’Auberge du Nord and is about to reopen the landmark premises with a new team.

And the group formed by the owner of the Boathouse at St Aubin, James Lane, and a former tenant of the Old Smuggler’s Inn at Ouaisné, Nigel Godfrey, who has been appointed managing director, has its eyes on acquiring other pubs.

It is hoping soon to be able to announce that it has secured a third establishment.

It aims to create family-friendly pub/restaurants with children’s play areas. It will concentrate on serving Jersey fresh produce in its restaurants and wants to give its pubs a traditional ‘Jersey feel’.

L’Auberge, which is a 16th century inn, will reopen for business next Monday.
