RECORDS were pushed hard, but not broken, at Bouley Bay in the second Rabeys Commercial Vehicles Hill Climb of the year on Liberation Day.
There were slippery patches near the bottom of the hill in the morning, but track conditions improved dramatically and were near perfect for the final two runs of the competition.
Nick Saunders from Guernsey in the 1,600 cc single-seater racing car class recorded 41.76 just five hundreth’s away from Christina Holley’s 2007 record. Holley, who was sharing the car with father Graeme, was a little untidy on a couple of her runs and could only manage a time of 42.98 with Graeme setting 45.56.
Carl Vardon made a welcome return to Bouley Bay on his Yamaha Quad bike and was just two tenths away from his own 2004 record, ending the day with a best of 50.46 sec. Also in the Quad class was Charles Fossey on a larger engined Yamaha and he set a new personal best of 53.18.
