HAVING forced their way into London Division I with a 15-0 play-off win against Staines three weeks ago, Jersey RFC should go into the 2008-9 season with a new chairman, new treasurer, new secretary and new house and social manager.
After six years as chairman, Chris Scott will be standing down tonight, to be replaced, in all probability, by Bill Dempsey who, for the last 25 years has been dedicated to the club, eventually as a Wanderers’ player, although his children are now very much part of the junior academy.
And, according to Scott, the changes in club personnel are a sign of the times.
‘There’s a new dynamic as we seek to go forward,’ he said. ‘During my six years as chairman I was proud to host over 600 guests for the club’s 125th anniversary in October 2004, but in the last four years I’ve also witnessed us moving up from South-West III to London II, unbeaten, and then to see us win promotion this last year, to London I.
