Consultation? What is that?

I AM completely nonplussed by the furore over Deputy de Faye’s latest gaffe.
He admits quite openly that he did not consult the emergency services or other interested parties over the recent cock-up on Victoria Avenue, but surely that is in line with present States policy.
When did the States last consult anyone at any time about anything – with the obvious exception of over-remunerated English ‘consultants’, who virtually by definition appear to be remarkably uninformed about Island affairs?
