Some fortunate souls were blessed enough to arrive in Jersey on Friday!
Some of our World Jersey Cattle Bureau folks partook of an international cattle classification meeting at the RJA and HS offices up in Trinity and at Chris Cudlipp’s farm on Saturday!
Very stimulating as keen folks from South Africa, Uruguay, Jersey, England, New Zealand, Canada, and the USA and Denmark compared notes and data and information on how they “see” and evaluate cattle body conformation!
Of course we took a few seconds to peruse the wares at the antiques far at the showgrounds and poke around the lovely RJA offices!! And the countryside!! Wow! Wow!! WOW!!!Bedecked in all her spring greenery with glimpses of the ocean all round and Jersey’s distinct architecture and flora and fauna-in our case those sweet brown bovines it was so enchanting! Stops had to be made in transit to photo the vigorously blooming wisteria at the church in Trinity!
Last evening a treat among treats as David Hambrook of the RJA took our “advance party of friendly invaders” to that smashing good restaurant overlooking the majestic Corbiere lighthouse! There was endless ooohing and aaahhing over the spectacular view and a succulent and completely satisfying and memorable meal and non-stop chatter about Jersey and Jerseys and life!
We fully realise that “blessed are we among all people” to be here on Jersey, meeting some of you, soaking in and savouring the wonders of your Island home and learning and growing from each other! Ah! ‘Tis all good, exceedingly good!
Today-Sunday-the Jersey world descends in full force on Jersey! Thrilled to the gills, as I am now known Russe!! (Gammon) your roving blogger enjoying a revival of romance with my beloved Jersey!
PS. You should see the World Jersey Journal created by your own Derrick (Dickie Donuts) Frigot and question, do they dip those sweet, tiny, tender, incredibly edible new Jersey Royal potatoes in perfume before they cook them? Irresistible they are indeed!!!
WE HAVE LANDED!!!
