Strongest team yet for Jeux des Iles

jeuxdesiles_cropped.jpgJERSEY being their journey to the Jeux des Iles in Guadeloupe today – and leave with their strongest ever team.

The event, a multi-sport island games for U18s, normally clashes with exams but this year falls in the May half-term break and therefore many more Jersey youngsters have declared themselves available.

There are 39 competitors making the trip to the Caribbean destination and team manager, Hugh Raymond, believes Jersey has a great chance of improving on the tenth place and record number of medals, though no golds, achieved last year in Corsica.

Jersey: Stephen de la Haye, Ross Jeffs, Zane Duquemin, Gemma Dawkins, Jenna Murphy, Emma Wilton, Felicity Johnson-Deeley, Nicola Milner, Lucy Crossman, Kathryn Rothwell, Lisa Luce (athletics); Matthew Hill, Elizabeth Appleyard, Louise Mollet, Charlotte Sweeney, Lisa Day (gymnastics); Nathan Elms, Matthew Chapman, Lucy Goddard, Dan Garton (surfing); Katy Glendening, Grace Le Couilliard, Charlotte Manning, Charlotte Samson, Emily Ritzema, Misha Jackson, Tom Gallichan, James Payne, Conor Mallett (swimming); Laurence Carter, George Moisan, Elizabeth Ellison (sailing); Luke Walker, Max Tupper, Scott Cassin (table tennis); George Dupays, Scott Clayton, Octavia Lamb, Alyssia Johnson (tennis).
