Burglary warning

0095557_cropped.jpgPOLICE have warned Islanders to be vigilant following a spate of burglaries, bike thefts and thefts from cars in the last few weeks.

They are urging people to make sure that their homes, bikes and cars are locked up after the recent break-ins.

On Wednesday there was an attempt to steal a safe from a house in St Brelade and there were burglaries at homes in Queen’s Lane, St John’s Road and Trinity. At the Oueen’s Lane property items worth £1,500 were stolen, including a laptop computer, camera and bracelet.

This year, 148 properties – residential and commercial buildings – have been broken into, compared to 173 between January and the end of May last year.

If anyone has seen anything suspicious in their neighbourhood they should contact police on 612612, or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
