MINISTERS are driving a wedge between themselves and the States by using bullying tactics and ridiculing anyone who disagrees with them, according to Deputy Gerard Baudains.
He has claimed that a ‘them and us’ attitude in the House is fuelling a divide in the States and that ministerial government is not working.
Deputy Baudains was roundly criticised by ministers for raising the issue of the multi-million-dollar lawsuit against Waterfront developers Harcourt during this week’s debate on the Esplanade Square plans.
Chief Minister Frank Walker had given States Members his ‘categorical assurance’ that there was no Las Vegas lawsuit – before apologising after the debate after being told that the suit had been filed.
Transport Minister Guy de Faye and Waterfront Enterprise Board director Jim Perchard also criticised Deputy Baudains for his claims, which were proved correct, but only after the Council of Ministers’ proposition had been approved.

Shouldn’t the local media be jumping all over this? I suppose the question is shouldn’t Walker now resign or face a vote of no confidence for misleading the States and the Jersey people?
Another question is howcome it appears not one States member knew of some crucial information about harcourt that could have easily been obtained by just googling Harcourt?

Walker does it again!

They need to vote no confidence in the Chief Minister and get him out before the elections.

It`s outrageous. Either Walker is incompetent for not knowing about the lawsuit, or he is scheming for insuring that it wasn`t made public until after the waterfront plan had been passed by the House.
This takes the biscuit. It really does.

Re Harcourts law suit… Senator Perchard states (in the states debate) …’the claims are completely false. They are a reputable company and I urge the states to ignore the slight placed on them by Deputy Baudains. We have at WEB taken these rumours seriously and we have doubled-checked and got PwC to do checks.’
Who is ‘peddling untruths’ now … eh Jim?

Walker Perchard and that has been comic De faye should all resign and the sooner the better: surely the states could recind this decision? Any way makes you wonder what roll Cohen played. could good old Frank be up to his old trick of naivete as he did in the last vote of no confidence in him

Yet another example of how the public of this island are being badly led by this ministerial form of government. They make decisions, regardless of what other Members or what the Public say, even when it is obvious to everyone they are making grave errors of judgement. The purpose of Government should be to work for the Public ’s best interest, not against it.
In all my life of living in this Island, ( and i am born & bred here ) i have never known such an un- demorcratic form of government, & so badly led. They are a disgrace, and if they had an ounce of moral fibre about them, resign on mass.
Lets hope something will happen this october.

No wonder there is no trust in Jersey. Frank Walker has one concern and one concern alone. Himself. I think Paul Armstrong is right in that Walker is conniving and wants it all his way, not whats best for Jersey!
STAND DOWN FRANK WALKER Your time is up

Walker should now resign and so should Jim Perchard
