Walker points the way ahead

walker-silverstone_cropped.jpgALMOST 100,000 fans fuelled an extraordinary atmosphere at Silverstone this weekend as Jerseyman James Walker continued his bid to become the Island’s first F1 racing driver.

Walker (25) recovered from a poor qualifier in Renault’s World Series on Saturday – 18th on the starting grid – to claw back eight places and earn a vital point from race one.

From 12th place on the grid he got a great start in race two, but despite a good push and steely determination, the Fortec Motorsport team driver couldn’t improve his placing.

He said: ‘It’s disappointing because I started quite well and I had a pretty good pit stop, so I was
hoping to pull back a few places. But there are always positives from every race and I’m pleased with the result from Saturday, so we’ll take that forward and see what we can do in the next one.’
