GLORIOUS sunshine greeted more than 85 visiting classic and vintage cars over the weekend at the Credit Suisse Festival of Motoring.
They were joined by around 160 local cars and bikes for the popular annual celebration of touring and racing.
Hundreds of spectators went to see the machines at the People’s Park on Friday afternoon and then lined Victoria Avenue for the Moonlight Sprints in the evening. On Saturday and Sunday the hill climbs up Westmount and Mount Bingham proved to be equally popular.
As the racing cars burned rubber at those events, the touring cars drove in magnificent convoy around the Island, stopping at La Ferme in Trinity for a Sunday picnic lunch.
Steve Salmon, the president of the Jersey Classic and Vintage Motor Racing Club, which organised the event alongside the Jersey Old Motor Club, said: ‘It was a fantastic weekend. The three race events went very well, we had the weather with us and a lovely mix of vehicles, and the spectators were unbelievable. Everyone enjoyed themselves and there was a lot of banter between spectators and drivers.’
He added: ‘The festival is developing into something very special for a lot of people. It is a very high-quality event.’
