Banahan keeps Saxons place against Ireland A

81486207_jep_cropped.jpgJERSEY’S rugby giant wing Matt Banahan has retained his place in the starting XV for the England Saxons second Barclays Churchill Cup match against Ireland A tomorrow.

Steve Bates, England Saxons head coach, has made seven changes to the England Saxons team ahead of the game. George Chuter will lead the side, which contains five new faces and two positional switches.

‘With Nick Lloyd going home, there were a couple of changes forced on us,’ he said ‘We’ve tried to keep the balance between having some continuity from the USA game and making sure that we give some more players an opportunity.

‘But we’ve resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes. There are some elements where we’ve tried to get things right for this opposition, a case of horses for courses.’
