Banahan’s double

att-banahan-seven-nop_2_cropped.jpgWHILE England’s senior rugby team were losing 37-20 in New Zealand, Jersey’s giant winger, Matt Banahan, was scoring two tries of his own for the England B team, the Saxon, on Saturday.

The Saxons were playing against an Ireland XV who made scoring far more difficult than it had been the previous week against the American Eagles.

In that game Banahan scored a hat-trick of tries. Against the Irish XV, however, Banahan had to do with just the two this time.

In bright sunshine Banahan played a full part in a 34-12 victory which means that next Saturday the Saxons will play against Scotland A in a bid to retain the Barclays Churchill Cup in Chicago in a match televised live on Sky Sports 2 from 7.05 pm.
