Greechan faces final test in quest for British title

JERSEY’S young bowls star Lindsey Greechan faces England champion Edna Bessell in the final of the British Isles women’s outdoor singles championship at the Belmont club in Belfast today.

Win or lose, Greechan will return to Jersey later today, leaving her fellow-Islanders to contest the home international series that gets under way at the same venue tomorrow.

‘I’m sad that I can’t stay, but it quite simply a question of getting the time off from work,’ said Greechan at the end of a long day. ‘There are so many events on, and it’s impossible to play in them all.’

She added: “I’m particularly disappointed to miss out on the team event, because the team spirit within the Jersey team is tremendous at present - and I would have liked to have been part of it. I wish them well.’
