A JERSEY-BORN racing driver will be opening up along Victoria Avenue next month as the first act in both the Battle of Flowers and the Moonlight Parade.
World Series by Renault racer James Walker (24) will put on a live demonstration in his Formula Renault 3.5 racing car. ‘I can’t wait to drive the race car on the streets of Jersey,’ he said. ‘It’s a great chance for everyone at home to see the car close up as the World Series cars look fantastic in the flesh.
‘I’m so proud of the fact that we have the opportunity to do the demonstration, as it’s a great honour. The team and I are all really looking forward to it. I won’t need to go quick down the Avenue for people to appreciate the car.’
Mr Walker, who currently lives in Oxford, went to Victoria College before moving to the UK at 16 to take his A-levels. His racing career began in 2002 and just a year later he won the Scholarship Class of the British Formula Ford Championship.
