Online register for tender hopefuls

00366024_cropped.jpgJERSEY businesses can now sign up to receive information about new States of Jersey tenders.

Firms which register their interest on a new website will receive an e-mail whenever new tenders are sent out.

Suppliers from outside the Island will also be able to register on the website www.tenders.gov.je. The new system, which will cost around £7,000 a year to maintain, is designed to streamline and standardise the way that States departments buy goods and services.

It follows complaints from firms that the process of awarding States contracts has been less than transparent. The ongoing review of States purchasing power is also designed to cut annual costs by several million pounds.

Caroline Hastings, director of strategic procurement (pictured), said that the website would be used to advertise tenders for any goods or services which the States needed to buy in.
