Double joy for Boletta

0570443_cropped.jpgHARBOUR Office employee Christian Boletta retained the Earth, Wind and Water Surfabout 2008 Open title in St Ouen’s Bay over the weekend.

Boletta’s wave selection was key over the early rounds and he kept his composure throughout to win the Jersey Surfboard Club organised event.

Fabian Baker chased Boletta all the way through the final but it was a different story for Sam George and Issac Kibblewhite as they struggled to find the high scoring waves that they had in the semi-finals, which was arguably the best competitive surfing seen in Jersey for a long while.

In round one of the masters’ competition, Nigel Wray (44) gave a demonstration of top to bottom surfing which was rewarded with the highest scoring wave of the competition. Alex Vibert placed the highest junior in the open section. Jake Powell won the under-18s’ section, Tony Lang, the over-45s’ title and Geoff Hill (62), the over-50s’ class.
