Boat owners get that sinking feeling

00570892_cropped.jpgBOAT owners were left bemused when they turned up in St Catherine’s Bay to find that their dinghies had mysteriously vanished.

And their confusion turned to anger when they discovered it was not the work of a thief, but Transport and Technical Services who had confiscated the boats for creating an obstruction to pedestrians.

The boat owners were told that if they wanted to be reunited with their dinghies, which had been chained to the railings of a car park next to the slip, they would have to hand over £35.

Bob Hogge (58), of St Helier, said: ‘I was absolutely shocked. ‘People have chained their dinghies to the railings for years. I understand why they may want to do something like this, but why on Earth didn’t they tell us first. They gave us no warning and just came along and removed them. It strikes me that removing the dinghies without prior warning is both unnecessary and unkind.’

Sorry but if you knew not to park up your dingys there then its like parking on a yellow line..
Do what the townies do. Park legally until 5.00pm and then park where you damn well please.

Although i dont want to see all those dingys in town!
