Hotton speeds to sprint record

0542366_cropped.jpgJERSEYMAN Gary Hotton is the fastest man on two wheels in Jersey.

The 33-year-old Florida Pools managing director shaved six-hundredths of a second off the motorcycles unlimited class record at the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club’s quarter-mile sprint held on the Five Mile Road last Saturday.

Hotton’s record time was also four-hundredths of a second quicker than the previous overall quickest bike time, in the up to 1,000 cc class – both achieved by Paul Traylen.

Hotton, astride a 1300 cc Suzuki Hayabusa, put his success down to competing in France.

He said: ‘Without doubt, it’s down to racing regularly in France. It’s not about the power of the machine, it’s about laying it down so you get the power on the floor and if I can get the tyre spinning to stop earlier I’m sure I can reach the finishing line quicker.’
