Finance workers urged to join honorary police

00367561_2_cropped.jpgFINANCE workers were encouraged to join the honorary police at a presentation on Friday that highlighted the force’s importance to the Island.

Parish chefs de police and other honorary police officers joined forces with Attorney General William Bailhache, the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway, and Jersey Finance Ltd chairman Pierre Horsfall to address senior figures from the finance industry on the role of the honorary police.

Representatives from banks, trust companies, legal firms and other financial institutions heard presentations covering different aspects of the force and of the skills that business leaders share with honorary police officers.

The similarities between senior management training and the work of the force were highlighted, from decision-making to crisis-handling, and Gen Ridgway said that the honorary police provided a ‘master class’ in practical leadership skills. The chairman of the Committee of Constables, Ken Vibert (pictured), said that it was a common misconception that involvement with the honorary police imposed onerous time commitments on its officers.
