On tour with Kylie

Dawn Joseph (32) has just completed the European part of the Australian singer’s X Tour and is now embarking on the UK leg.

Dawn is one of the two backing singers and dancers hand-picked by Kylie for the show. Rehearsals for the tour began in March and the European part got under way in May, taking in venues including Paris and Rotterdam. The UK leg has started and will continue until the beginning of August.

Each show is two hours and 20 minutes long and Dawn does the backing singing and dancing on every song and also stands in for Robbie Williams to duet with Kylie on the song Kids. ‘It’s like being in a West End show,’ said Dawn. ‘I love all the songs, but it’s particularly great doing I Should Be So Lucky because the crowd always goes nuts.’

Dawn shot to fame in 1996 when she won a series of TV’s Stars In Their Eyes. Since then she has written songs for artists including the Sugababes and Atomic Kitten, has played guitar for Craig David and bass for Phil Collins, and most recently went on a world tour with Sir Cliff Richard.
