INVESTIGATING officers are about to pull out of Haut de la Garenne.
The former children’s home in St Martin has been at the centre of the huge police investigation into alleged historical child abuse over the past half-century.
Since the police moved in to begin their searches in February, nearly 50 children’s teeth, a number of cut and burnt bone fragments, numerous traces of blood and some home-made shackles have been discovered.
More than 100 people have claimed that they were abused while resident at the home and some have told officers of secret chambers and cellars where they had been allegedly taken and abused.
Meanwhile, the States police have started recruiting for an officer to replace Lenny Harper as the head of the abuse inquiry. The Deputy Chief Officer, who is currently the senior investigating officer leading the investigation, is due to retire in August.
